About us
hevc.es is an independent explainer site about the HEVC codec and digital video, written in plain language with verifiable sources.
Who we are
hevc.es is an explainer project by CadizNet (Cádiz, España). Its aim is to explain the HEVC (H.265) codec and digital video in clear, visual language: what it is, how to install it, what plays it and which devices support it, always backed by verifiable sources.
We are independent: not affiliated with the ITU, MPEG, any patent pool, or the manufacturers and software we mention. We distribute no codecs or installers; the downloads section always links to each project's official site.
How we write
- We start from official specifications (ITU, ISO/IEC, AOMedia), academic papers, and documentation from manufacturers and open-source projects. Every page lists its sources at the end and shows its last update.
- We review pages at least once a year, sooner if reference information changes.
- We accept no sponsored content.

How we select news
The news section updates automatically from the public RSS feeds of the sources below. A program keeps headlines related to the topic, classifies them and removes duplicates.
- We only show the headline, a short excerpt and a link to the original article; full content belongs to each outlet.
- News items are not reviewed by hevc.es: each source is responsible for its content.
